I’m one with the sun–my source of life—and am free to worship it between 11 and 3 without condomizing my whole body with sunscreen. I believe that a tan is healthy and I oil up. I set my blanket down next to a big group of people I don’t know and eavesdrop about who doesn’t remember what they did with whom last night. I feel the thrill of timing my 11ish and 3ish swims to avoid the badge checkers. I stay until the lifeguard stands are put on their sides, knowing this is how my beach will be when the tourists go home.
